Home build schedule: stages from plot to handover
A good home build schedule is not a wish list. It is a control tool that shows what must be ready before the next trade starts and where buffers are needed.
Preparation and permits
Before work starts, you need drawings, permits or notices, site manager, utilities, surveyor and financing plan. This stage is often underestimated.
Organise documents early: decisions, utility conditions, contracts, quotes and budget. They will be needed later for checks and settlements.
From foundations to roof
A common order is groundworks, foundations, insulation, walls, slabs, stairs, chimneys and roof. Each stage needs a start date, acceptance date and owner.
Most pressure appears between trades. If the roofer, carpenter or material delivery slips, the following tasks move as well.
Services, wet works and finishes
After the house is closed, services, plaster, screeds, insulation, facade and finishes follow. Drying time and technical sequence matter.
The best schedule has buffers and checkpoints. BuildIQ lets you attach photos, invoices, notes and status to every stage.
